I met the amazing couple, Martina and Jason for the first time just a few days before their wedding. Jason instantly showed off his goofy hilarious self and Martina laughing at every single punchline. To me that's what love is, someone to laugh with. It was forecast to be a rainy day and all three of us prayed to the rain gods, touched wood and threw salt over our shoulders (you can never be too superstitious right?). We avoided discussing the backup plan out loud (always have a backup plan!) and to our luck it was a beautiful day.
The wedding was during the middle of the day in Main Beach, Gold Coast, out in the open (direct sunlight) and generally a wedding photographers least ideal situation. Meeting before the wedding we were able to pick a spot in the shade (hurray shade!) and plan the day to ensure a smooth carefree day. When Martina and her mother got out of the car everyone was so happy and relaxed. I adore her pink pumps! I mistook her mother on multiple occasions as her sister because she looked that amazing - seriously check out the photo of her below with Martina. I also really love that photo because it was the moment Martina saw Jason for the first time ❤️)
The ceremony was done by the fantastic celebrant Liz Pforr who made their day with family and friends even more special. Liz is an absolute pro who I had the chance to listen to some of the amazing weddings she has been apart of. The entire wedding party was literally a party. I had so much fun with everyone and it's so much more rewarding when everyone has fun with the photos! I whispered in Martina's ear last minute "can we get a shot of all the guys carrying you?". YES! She replied and demanded everyone lift her. Even though her sleeveless dress wasn't the most flexible with her movement everyone had an absolute blast doing it.
The couple session is my favourite part of the day because I love the energy after the ceremony; the smiles, the kisses, the laughter. It's contagious! I want to say that almost all of the couples I photograph tell me before the wedding that "we're not models, will you be able to help us with posing?". Yes! Yes! YES! That's exactly what I'm here for and I love it. Martina and Jason said the exact same thing and looking back at the images, they were amazing. Thank you so much for trusting me and letting me be apart of your special day. Thank you Jason for happily holding off from beer o'clock to capture these amazing moments with Martina. I am blown away by the amount of love you both share for one another.
