Pirates, superheroes and robber attire is what I'm accustomed to seeing Bride and Groom, Bel and Kim dressed in. Before we go any further Bel and Kim throw the best kids parties on the Gold Coast and I've been lucky enough to shoot their amazing children; Lillyana and Ethan for the last couple of years. When Bel told me about their Convalidation Ceremony I was so excited because it would be the first time we got to celebrate their day.
The ceremony was at the Stella Maris Catholic Church in Broadbeach and was my first time shooting in a large sized church. I've read so much about the difficulties of shooting in churches with low light, however this was was modern, sleek and enormous! The afternoon began with showers but that didn't damper the vibe. We found ourselves running back and forth from the beach, spending our time drying and smiling. I can't wait to see the video footage of me screaming at the flash rain while Bel and Kim, hand in hand, laughing it off like absolute pros. I'm glad Bel's amazing hair and makeup by Karmah In Hair withstood all the elements.
Even though I'm not particularly a religious man, I do appreciate a great service. The church was filled with love from friends and family and I hope the photos express that. I particularly love the photo of Bel and Kim holding their hands in the air as victors of love. Shout out to Bel and Lillyana's bouquets by Fleurus.
The reception was at the Surfers Paradise Golf Club and was the first time I've ever been there. As soon as I entered the room I was blown away by the breathtaking styling by Sugar and Spice Events. The lights, the beautiful venue flowers by Moss n Stone and to-die-for cake by the talented Groom, Kim made for a spectacular night. Drinks, great food, great company, tears and many laughs placed this night in the category of a night to remember.
